Below
is a very basic overview of the complicated subject of search
engine submission.
Search
engine submission refers to the attempt to get your site listed
with a search engine. Getting listed does not necessarily mean
you will rank well for your chosen terms, but that the search
engine knows that your site exists.
Submitting
your site to a search engine can be likened to purchasing a lottery
ticket. Having the ticket does not necessarily mean you will win
anything but you must have a ticket to have any chance at all.
Search
engine position/placement/rank refers to how well a site does
for particular terms in a search engine. Naturally, anyone who
runs a web site aims to be in the "top ten" results.
Being listed as the eleventh site or beyond means less traffic
to your site.
The
Search Engines
The
top three search engines account for more than 80% of the estimated
319 million total Search Engine queries per day.

Beware!
Some search engine submission programs offer to submit your site
to thousands of search engines
. But what's the point of
having a high listing in a search engine that no one goes to?
At Interface we concentrate on getting you listed with the search
engines that matter.
Many
programs use automated software to submit your site. Search engines
often reject these generic submissions. At Interface we will personally
and accurately submit your site according to each search engine's
specific policies and procedures.
A
very important fact to keep in mind is that submission does not
guarantee a listing and it never guarantees a high rating. Be
suspicious of any search engine submission program that offers
to submit your commercial site to Yahoo for less than $300 - it
will not be listed! Yahoo charges $299US to even look at your
site; even paying this fee does not guarantee that you will be
listed. (If, however, you are a legitimate non-commercial entity
you may submit you site for free, although the chances of getting
listed are slim unless you pay the fee.)
Your
Search Engine Submission Budget
All
businesses have start-up costs that must be met, such as business
licenses, phone bills, and Yellow Pages listings. Search engine
submission fees are an important part of web site start-up costs,
just as domain name registration and web hosting fees. The amount
of potential traffic you tap into will be determined by your budget.
From the packages listed below, one will be suitable for your
web site.
